See, Breakout's time with A Pimp Named Rodimus was well spent. Just look at that pimpslap in action!

Odd. I knew that sensation was familar. It's that same feeling I get when I go to work everyday. The one that generally gives me that twitch under my left eye and my hands ache from squeezing them so tight. Yes, just like home...

TeamhairTahal: When Crimson finds out about what Slipstream was saying to Hornet, she's going to fry his audio channels
steeleffigy: good, we think alike - if slipstream tries it again, blindside's going to make sure slipstream has to stay in the CR chamber for as month
steeleffigy: *grin*
TeamhairTahal: heheheh.
So... that's 3months so far. One for Breakout, one for Deathstrike, one for you
steeleffigy: *laughing*
steeleffigy: well, there's nothing that says we can't take turns
TeamhairTahal: Crimson's got a worse punishment. Crimson and the Fembots have the Gossip Network. And if you don't think gossiping women spreading stories can ruin a guy's life....
steeleffigy: *shudder*
TeamhairTahal: Ahhhhhh.... I see you understand
steeleffigy: doesn't that fall under "cruel and unusual punishment?"
TeamhairTahal: Do you want to see Hornet charm the Fembots by being small and cute?
steeleffigy: i mean damn, just smash him with an asteroid or something much less painful
steeleffigy: haha, i doubt he would really have to try, given how he's working so far

Cynical has obtained GM permission to grab Slipstream's wing.
If there's fatalities, it'll come out of the "winners" hide. As it stands, the winner will be going see the Boss Bot after it's done....

B4, that's twice you've posted hits instead of attacks. And we need to discuss damage for this latest bit.

And by "we" I mean the group. Obviously, we are both more invested in having certain outcomes happening than the rest of the group who will be more objective.

Take it up with a GM who cares - I'm all for senseless violence, but if your going to waste each other, at least be sensible enough to take a Decepticon out with you.
And Prime didn't chose favorites, I'msure blowing up Slipstream's engines hurt more than shooting your arms and legs.
Definatly easier to repair you.

I have to admit, Prime's being played a lot more Violent than normally deplicted in the shows. However, there is an obvious problem in the player-group, and we're not really having much luck working it out ourselves, thus we needed an NPC to break it up.
Thus, once again, Crimson and Hornet are attempting to play peacemakers.

When I spoke directly to DS about this a few hours ago, I was still in a bit of shock; well, and I was being surrounded by newly-brewing family drama, so I wasn't able to sit down and think about this calmly.
That Prime would do this shows a new side to Prime, one I've never seen in the shows, or the movie (not the Bay atrocity - that doesn't count). On the other hand, DS said that these times are a bit more desperate.
Personally, I think the scene should've paused and waited for Frigidmagi to login and show his two cents, since his character, had he been able to get online, certainly wouldn't have just sat in his chambers reading while this happened - he would have intervened and solved the scene without NPC intervention.
While I'm on the subject though, something B4UTRUST pointed out to me this evening while we were discussing the merits of clam chowder - CynCat, very few Transformers have the capability of copying someone else's transponder codes, and none of them were friendly and forthright Autobots.
Personally, I'd like to call this scene a fuckup, and reset it back a few steps, when Slipstream and Deathstrike were just getting into a fight, and before any missiles were launched. Crimson's call to all on Squad Ico would've had Breakout come running, and he could've taken care of the scene without any weirdness, and probably before Slipstream coughed up missiles.

Actually there was an Autobot spy by the name of Punch(Counterpunch was his 'con name) but he wasn't very friendly or forthright, truthfully. He was a massive paranoid delusional who believed half of the autobots were secretly decepticon spies doing to them what he was doing to the cons. He also barely maintained control when he became Counterpunch, his very real split personality that let out all the hostilities and horrors that as an Autobot he never did. He also had blackouts where he couldn't figure out what had happened in that time and he lived in constant fear that he was losing control, that Counterpunch would take over and the Autobots would be screwed then.
There was a decepticon double agent like Punch/Counterpunch but I can't recall his name and he wasn't seen too often in series and as far as I'm aware was never released as a toy.
But no, changing transponder codes like that was never a staple ability of the Cybertronians anymore then humans change their fingerprints or irises.

And since B4 hasn't said it, giving PC's that ability to change transponder codes like that sets a very dangerous precedent. Like...sending secret plans to Megatron and making it look like it's from someone who could believably be a potential traitor.B4UTRUST wrote:But no, changing transponder codes like that was never a staple ability of the Cybertronians anymore then humans change their fingerprints or irises.

Its an electronic signal emitted by a robot body run by an A.I. It's going to be one of the easiest things in the world to duplicate. It's just resetting a transmitter to broadcast a signal that it's receiving. It's not even mentioned at all in the series, as far as I can tell, so that it didn't show up much is irrelevant. Using a transponder code as transmission verification is silly. Better an encrypted code with an authentication, something that's pretty trivial for an AI. I'm going to have Slipstream's codes, so I can confirm its Slipstream. Easy as pie. Not like trying to hack Shockwave's personal cypher on his secret evil plan files.rhoenix wrote:But no, changing transponder codes like that was never a staple ability of the Cybertronians anymore then humans change their fingerprints or irises.
Besides, turning off Deathstrike's transponder would have worked just as well in the situation.

No, we didn't. We needed to settle it ourselves and you prevented that from happening. This solution makes Occam's Razor much happier.Cynical Cat wrote:Besides, turning off Deathstrike's transponder would have worked just as well in the situation.
To be fair, she sent the "HALP PLZ" signal to all in our team (e.g. Squad Ico), not to all Autobots. If she had sent it to all Autobots, then yes, it would've been her bad.Cynical Cat wrote:No, we didn't. We needed to settle it ourselves and you prevented that from happening. Excusing your lack of experiance with such systems, Cyn, IFF type transponder codes are not quite that easy to change, duplicate, alter or spoof. They are encrypted, and encrypted very well using multiple interwoven security variables that are changed with such regularity that it will boggle your mind as to how more friendly fire accidents don't happen due to improper codes(which, btw, is the leading cause of air force friendly fire against allied forces.) Plus there's the bit with some of those type of systems being hardware coded, not software. Difficult to restructure your transmitter to transmit a code that isn't hardwired into you. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 7, but only if you're working on the SRU once it's removed from the LRU and properly done on a bench and with the right tools, equipment, and tech guides. Otherwise it gets an 11.
Not only do they carry identifying information about the transmitter they carry with them a broad range of data concerning all sorts of crucial and relevant things. The chances of doing what you did in that amount of time is slightly higher then Bush getting reelected to a third term in office. To give you an idea of just what sort of odds you're going against with your standard human military technology, you could run 1million security variables a second for the encryption key and it would still take you years to run through every possible key. And by years, I mean a lot of em.
Granted, a Cybertronian could live long enough to finish the job, but no human could. By the time the Cybertronian finished, the world as we know it now would be something found in history books on ancient civilizations, assuming humans are still around.
But hey, that's human technology and security that I work on. Not Cybertronian. So I'll leave the final decisions to DS on that one.

Okay Cat. You're wrong. You are fucking wrong.
Prime is the fucking CO, since I wasn't there, it was his damn duty to break up the fucking fight. As for what you and Slipstream did you basically had a knife fight right in front of the base generals... Make that the fucking Commandant's office. You are fucking wrong and insane think he wouldn't get involved. Hello? Missiles went off? IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING ARK?
(By the way B4? That whole thing was so damn stupid I don't even know where to begin! DUR! I'll buzz my direct superior because it'll be funny and I am the Hazor of Rokzor! I'm in a clinch! I uzed the missiles of D00m! WTF? Seriously, that was bullshit judgement and tells me Slipstream is a waste of space considering how good of a GM you are in heroes I fucking expect better form you.)
Prime is the fucking CO, it is his damn job to keep order in his outfit, when two members of his outfit start trying to kill each other in broad daylight it damn well is his fucking job to intervene. It's not Dues Ex, it's what would actually happen. Deal with it.
In a real military outfit, you both likely would have been shot or beaten and then thrown in a cell to await trail. The fact that Prime hasn't done so and didn't just blow you the fuck away is a display of massive trust in you and your integrity. Otherwise you and Slipstream would be in chains. Quit whining it's conduct unbecoming.
Frankly this whole thing is a damn idiot mess of shit and it would be best to erase it because it should not have happened.

oh and for IFF Transponders....
No one should be able to hot swap their codes for someone else in that particular piece of hardware, especially in under a second, in the middle of combat.
GM call, no one gets to hotswap their IFF Transponders, no Cybertronian has access to that level of their own hardware/software for on the fly changing.
Those that do, are specifically designed for shit like that (aforementioned Dealer/Doubledealer and Punch/Counterpunch)

Human tech. Not transforming AI robots which alter their internal components who have alternate forms that are capable of fooling other AI robots. Comparing human transponder tech to them is ridiculous. The specialist infiltrators aren't remarkable for being able to flip their codes, they are remarkable for having created and maintained alternate identities within the other faction and not having been found out.B4UTRUST wrote: But hey, that's human technology and security that I work on. Not Cybertronian. So I'll leave the final decisions to DS on that one.
If DS wants to rule that way, fine he's the GM, but human transponder tech is a terrible comparison. And really, I can't imagine a transformer not being able to fuck with transponder codes, switching them around in moments. Robots in disguise, remember?
And frigid, I know Deathstrike is in the wrong. Deathstrike doesn't think so, but he's not me, human military, or an Autobot. He's a Decepticon warrior who thinks the proper way to deal with repeated insubordination is to brutally kick the shit of the party responsible.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.
