Yeah, i loved it when we were with admhosting. I had the personal and business aim contacts of the owner and operator, his freaking home cell# if I really needed, the whole nine yards. The guy really cared about providing good support.
But I can understand selling to another company if the money is worth it, I don't blame him.
...Wow, what happened?

...Not to argue with you over semantics, but phpwebhosting.com definitely includes SSH access, along with phpMyAdmin for SQL administration, and a custom-written control panel for web-based administration of the site - all of this is mentioned on their main page.Dark Silver wrote:I found a couple of hosts which will fit our needs. Nothing against phpwebhosting.com, but they don't say if they include SSH, and they don't have the Cpanel and Fantastico control panels we've been using on the site (it makes for me, at least, things easier when I go into the back end for everything but file transfers).
Moreover, if you pay yearly, it costs about $8 a month instead of $10.
Once I have all my shit in gear, it'll be a real toss-up whether to host this site with them, or to run my own server out of my house.

When I worked for Earthlink's web hosting support (a few years ago), very few of the other workers in that department had their domains hosted by Earthlink. In fact, 90% of them used phpwebhosting.com, and for two important reasons:Destructionator XV wrote:Wow, it really does look rather nice.
1- They keep up with modern trends and technology, allowing users to utilize the latest and best web programming tools (such as Ruby on Rails); and
2- Their network & server admin team knows what the hell they're doing. The only time I've ever heard of their services being interrupted was when their upstream provider crashed for a few hours, and that happened once, several years ago.

Just so as you are all aware, I am unable to access the "backoffice" in the blog session because the user table apparently does not exist
