frigidmagi wrote:Rhoenix, are you aware your fancy stunt made it impossible for the city to shoot back?
Actually, no. The fogbank formed near the city, and was then pushed by the wind currents directly at the attackers. When Agrilos began running, the fogbank was already on its way away from the town and toward the attackers.
frigidmagi wrote:Let me explain, the attackers know where the city is. The city isn't gonna move nor is it blessed with the ability to dodge. The fog does not hamper them at all.
If they left their angles alone, they'd likely still hit the city, true - but more importantly, the fog prevents them from seeing people attacking their position until too late.
frigidmagi wrote:Meanwhile the city defenders? CAN'T FUCKING SEE WHERE THE ENEMY CANNONS ARE! They won't know where the cannon balls are going to hit until well THEY HIT!
When the fogbank first formed, for about thirty seconds? True. After the fogbank moved away from the city and well toward the attackers? Not so much.
frigidmagi wrote:Before you mention it, yes they cannot see individuals on the wall now? So fucking what? Cannons are not aimed at men on the wall my good man, they're aimed at the damn walls. You just made it easier for the enemy to blow up the walls without risking return fire.
See my above point about the fogbank no longer being within or around the city.
frigidmagi wrote:God help you all if they have a 2nd battery of cannons or even a 3rd. I would have split my cannons into 2 groups to avoid snazy heroes like you taking them out!
That would be a problem, yes.
Comrade Tortoise wrote:Heh, and lets not get into the fact that he just marched off into the wilderness alone to take out those cannons, without knowing what is there.... I will give you a hint, to move cannons around that quickly, whatever it is has to be kinda big and nasty
Perhaps, but Agrilos can see through the fog just fine.

Um... so the attackers can't see the city but the city can see the attackers? Is that what you're trying to say there? Because that makes no fucking sense. It's a giant fog bank, if one group can't see the other it's guaranteed they can't be seen back.

Apparently I didn't elucidate well. My intent was that there is now a big, obscuring fogbank surrounding where the incoming fire is coming from. The city cannot see them, but more importantly the attackers cannot see the city now. If they want to, they'll have to make themselves noticed.

Rhoenix you clearly missed my point in all your back patting.

My point was that the attackers don't need to see the city, they already know where it is. Cannons in this era aren't sniper weapons, if you hit the wall you did good.

You just made it easier for the enemy to blow down the city walls without taking any accurate counter fire. Good Job.

...Whoops.

Now I see what you mean, frigid. Thank you for pointing it out.

So - considering my supposedly-good plan is having terrible unintentional consequences, I'll just have the fog move past the attackers and dissipate in my next post.

Ooh, looks like a grendel or troll for our plucky Djinn. This should be interesting

Too bad our own, presumably friendly, troll seems to be AFK...

He's been really busy lately. We're getting ready to move and he's had a bunch of tests and work. I'll poke him to get a post in tonight if possible.

Indeed. I bet Per would love to give the armored jerkoff currently annoying Agrilos some problems.

It's just me being weird. "Impulse" refers to a change in momentum that happens quickly, more or less, and John had just suffered a very heavy blow from his opponent. The overall change in John's momentum was not very large (if it had been he would have been pushed back a good distance) but the change was fast acting. Which is to say he wasn't pushed gently but rather smacked really hard with a metal stick.

I wanted to use the word "impulse" so I linked wiki to let people know I wasn't talking about startrek engines or an urge to purchase random items at a store.

Wow yeah, I'm getting the subtle hint from multiple sources that Agrilos' last few minutes are upon us, and that creating another OWM character might be a good use of time.

Call me an optimist, because I won't yet.

You got there a bit quick SB, considering it took Rhoenix's guy two turns to make contact. However, I'll be nice and rule that since you didn't post last round that you spent that round running after Agrilos.
