Rauri looked down at the inguistive little fur-snake and moved her ale out of his reach. "A pleasure...." She obviously had some experience with weasels and ferrets.

Eralis finished his current iteration of the prayer, before he saw the knight in mail behind him in the reflection of his polished sword. Carefully he stood up, turning around and raising the flat of the blade to his forehead, before sweeping it down and around in a single fell swoop. A martial salute, of a sort.

"My Lord Algorind," he said in his deep and reserved tone. "May I be of assistance?"

"Please, none of that," the fair-haired man said with a faint smile. "Lord Kormallis sent me. I'm told you have been seeking admittance to the Order, and are awaiting a suitable quest. He thinks we may have one now."

"No biting" the gnome said, to which the little curmudgeon war-danced back over to him, and dove headlong onto Elias' chest, squeaking angrily.

"He is a bit cantankerous. I pity the Kobald who gets this little guy in his pants..."

Eralis paused, just for a moment, and a grim smile crossed his face. He did not neglect to whisper a prayer of thanks to Tyr for having responded to his prayers with such... dispatch.

"I have indeed," he replied to the paladin. "I am most... eager... to serve Tyr by whatever means I may."

"Very good," he said. "If you would please follow me." He turned and started walking out of the sanctuary, heading for the wing of the temple that housed the Holy Order of the Knights of Samular.

It was well-known that kobolds and gnomes were enemies... even if people had no clue what a kobold even looked like. "I'd be wary to having him under my own armor," Rauri replied, avoiding the innuendo of a snake in her breeches. "Still... I'm thinkin' we would be best waiting for more to join us, fore we descend. The stories I've heard tell o' treasure... but warn t'is not an easy thing."

"You're damned straight it ain't," came an amused sounding voice from the next table over. "Ol' Durnan over there, he made his pile in that hole," the man continued, jerking a thumb towards the large man who'd been operating the winch, "but most o' those who've tried t' do the same don't come out again."

"Well, that is why we will need a priest my friend" the gnome intoned, leaving the double meaning unspoken.

Algorind led Eralis to the office of Tyr's Champion. The one-handed Harkas Kormallis was sitting behind his desk, and a black-cloaked man stood across from it, deep in discussion. They both looked up as the two men entered the room.

"Ah, Brother Eralis," said Lord Kormallis with a smile. "This is Ciaran Roche, a knight of Ilmater, and he's got something that may suit you."

"Well met," said the cloaked man quietly. His hood was down, of course; one didn't leave it up in the temple. He had short black hair and a faintly sad expression on his face. "My organization has a mission to carry out in the Dock Ward, and the Church of Tyr has requested to have a representative along. Your name comes recommended."

Rauri was used to the Moonshaes, where Chauntea's priests blessed the fields, helped pull in the harvest, and left the wilder parts to the druids of the Moonshae's EarthMother. "On Gwenyth, you'd not get one ta leave his hearth!" The thought of one of the round-bellied home-bodies actually fighting was hilarious.

Mentally she knew there were war-priests, and she'd probably passed a few on the streets outside. "Here... well, t'would be a follower of Tempus we'd be needing ... one who can fight and pray." Tempus was a god of battles, favored by those who found the chaos of combat a way to win honor and glory. Tyr and Torm, while also considered war-gods, were a more decorous and civilized set, looking for strategy and tactics to win victory. The idea of kicking a man in the balls and then chopping off his head wasn't quite 'fair' to Tyr and Torm, but a really good way to win to Tempus.

"My Lord Kormallis," said Eralis to the one-handed knight with a half-bow, "Sir Ciaran." He repeated the gesture to the knight of Ilmater, before listening to their instructions. He didn't consider it an offer.

"I am most honored to have been recommended in any capacity. May I ask what the nature of this mission might be?"

"We've got a line on what we think might be a slaving ring," Ciaran said. "People have been disappearing, and last tenday a pair of victims were rescued from Skullport during a transaction there to a Thayan buyer. Divinations have revealed what we believe to be their staging area for their smash-and-grabs, and we plan to hit it."

Why Tyr's church would want someone along for this would be self-evident to Eralis; while slaving and it's accompanying punishments would incense Ilmatians, it was a matter of justice to Tyr, and the clerics would wish to ensure justice was done.

The reason why a Cleric of Tyr would be requested was indeed obvious and self-evident to Eralis, but despite what one might have expected, he paused a moment, in apparent hesitation, before replying, though when he did, his voice was almost dangerously quiet.

"I will be my honor and my priviledge to assist in the destruction of such an organization. I shall bend every effort towards that end."

There was a note in his voice that seemed just slightly... off, a bit more intent than one might expect from a priest of Tyr.

"When shall we proceed?"

"We'll set out for our safehouse right now, or as soon as you're ready," Ciaran told him. "Gather your gear and meet me at the main doors to the chapel."

"Very good," said Eralis, and with a half-bow to the two paladins of Tyr, Eralis quickly left the office and returned to the chapel, where he had left his pack. His armor was already donned under his cloak, his shield on his back, and his sword by his side, for it was his practice to pray in full combat regalia whenever possible. The explanation for why he did this was long.

Soon he had retrieved his pack, and returned to the entrance to the chapel, ready to accompany Sir Ciaran.

Ciaran nodded to him as he emerged from the temple. "So quickly," he said with approval as he started to walk south down the street. "So, you're not from Waterdeep originally. Tell me, what brings you here?"

The two men talked as they proceeded down the street.

[And with that, I'm done for the day; I need to go to sleep. B4UTRUST, your character and Eralis will end up at the same place fairly quickly; Rhoenix too if I can manage it.]

Etvar glanced over as Reggie appeared beside them. He frowned. He had been looking out for people but Reggie's skills at hiding were obviously far superior to his own at spotting others. But then again, this was Reggie's turf and home and he probably knew every shadow from here to North Ward.
"Hey, Reggie. We were just coming to find you, in fact. I've been alright. Or about as well as can be expected at any rate."

His voice dropped as he glanced around slowly before turning back to Reggie.
"Did you feel those quakes too? Some people are talking that it had something to do with a mad mage."

"Yeah, I felt it. Shook the whole damn city, dinnit?" He shook his head. "Anyway, Jarvy, th' goody boys in black're asking for manpower again. They think they've got a bead on the Xanathar's boys."

"Is that so? Well, we can hardly pass that one up," the other man answered. "They meeting us at the usual spot?"

"Yeah," Reggie answered. "C'mon, Etvar, I think you might have some fun on this'n."

"A'right, lets go then. I'm always up for some fun and mischief. So what's the usual spot?," Etvar enquired as he followed the pair. He wasn't totally sure who this Xanathar was or what his boys were up to but what the hell, right? Fun was fun and the gods knew he could use some more.

He cast a quick glance over his shoulder. It was paranoia to be sure, but knowing who he was and what he had done at times made him leery of others like him. He didn't treasure the thought of someone pilfering his belongings the way he had done to others. It wasn't something he was absolutely proud of or made a point of advertising, but his past was his past and always a part of who he was. And if the absolute need arose, might be part of his life again.

"Just follow us," Reggie said as the two men started wending their way into the warehouse district, keeping a close eye on each other's blind spots and their surroundings.

Etvar just nodded and shrugged. Sure, why not, he thought to himself as he silently followed the duo. He followed them where they lead him, not asking any more questions till their arrival.

They led him to a warehouse off of Fish Street, ducking into the alley behind and approaching a back door. Reggie knocked.

"Who goes?" A raspy voice fairly spat out the question from behind the door.

"Deliveries. Got those belts and the chianti you ordered."

"And when's the best time to drink the wine?"

"Midnight, for then it's darkest."

The door opened. "Come in, quickly." The speaker was a sleight man wearing battered leather armor and holding a sword; he waved them inside with his free hand. Perhaps it was a trick of the light, but Etvar thought he saw a blue light fade from the man's eyes just as the door swung open...
