Slowly walking up to the forming group a man in a cloak looked them up and down under his hood. He thought to himself for a moment and nudged into their conversation. "I am Coda Alera of House Retyo. I would more then be willing to lend my skills to finding out what is happening in Undermoutain. I am more then just a pretty face, I am an accomplished spellcaster, more then able to hold my own."

"not THAT kind of stubborn door" making a bear trap and an acid-spraying motion with his hands. Then the newcomer showed up, and Elias decided to test him

"Well met Coda...Heh... if were sorcerer, I would have accidentally cast a spell just then"

"Sorcerers, are not that unpredictable. I have known a few during my time and frankly they seem to possess great power for their rudimentary understandings of the powers they weild." Coda detected the thinly veiled insult that had been directed at him and responded. "At least I can cast Scorching Ray on occasion. I have seen few sorcerers of my experience capable of anything near such a mystical feat."

'Oh good, he isnt one' Elias thought to himself.

"Oh, I have known a few as well... which is why I had to make sure you were not one. Had one try and train with me when I did my apprenticeship, not good, almost burned down the library, half orc too... barely literate, so it would have been little loss for him... I had to put the fire out with an Ice Knife spell on a wide dispersion. Of course that brings me to the other problem... lack of knowledge.... Power and ignorance, never a good combination unless otherwise tempered, no?"

Etvar looked over to Eralis. A cleric of Tyr. Better and better. He shook off the feeling and walked over to the man, giving him the once over. He extended his hand.
"I'm Etvar. Names Eralis, right?"

"Yes temperement is nessecary to control the emotions but freedom is a must. In my time I have picked up some ecclectic learning. Some time at a Warmage academy in Cormyr even taught me to see that in truth armour is not beyond the bounds of a skilled mage. I have even considered donning a suit or two during my time. As for you little fellow, I hope you have some more magics then the last gnome I met. He could dance a decent jig but his prestedigitations left something to be desired..." Coda trailed off to see if the Gnome would take the bait.

"His imagination must have been a bit limited...not all gnomes are equally skilled. I mean... jumping should come as naturally as prestidigitation to a gnome, but I cant manage it for the life of me. As for warmage training, the price for the armor is lack of versatility. The fact that you do not wear armor tells me something You either found this lack of versatility to not suit you, pardon the pun, or you did not complete the training. Either way you are not at present skilled enough to cast spells while in armor, or if you are, you are a one-trick pony while wearing it. You couldnt even cast prestidigitation without risking it unravel in your fingers"

The gnome grinned light-heartedly. He loved messing with sun elves, they always think they are the Seldarin's Gift to Faerun, and conveniently forget their own limitations.... and sins... like the events leading to the creation of a certain race of angry dark skinned subterranean elves.

"Oh I think working with you will be lots of fun, and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Elias Ebenstein, at your service"

"You are partially right gnome, I found armour restrictive and less easy to use then Mage Armour. But as for now I actually have finished my training there I just lack the proper experience to put all their teachings to use." With a smile Coda sat next to the gnome.

"Eralis Vidrian," said the taller man, "lay cleric of Tyr." He took the other man's hand and shook it, examining his accouterments briefly. He had the look of a rogue to him, not that this was anything abnormal around Waterdeep, and Eralis supposed such things would come in handy down below.

"Shall we see if there are others willing to venture down?"

Etvar nodded slowly, eyeing the man.
"Sure, lets go see who else can be talked into this little adventure. Hopefully we can find a good strong arm or two, if half of what I've heard is truth about what lies beneath."

He motioned with an arm, indicating Eralis could go first.
"After you, I'm sure you know a faster way then I to our destination."

Pale grey eyes darted back and forth between Elias and 'Coda', but Rauri allowed the little gnome to test the gentleman's knowledge and skills without comment. Only once Coda sat down did Rauri speak.

"A pleasure meeting you," the human warrior said. "Tis good to have another spell-thrower with us where we'll be goin'. Two and two, we have now." She referred to two warriors and two mages, as she was still unsure of Kergan's arcane skills. As Coda had mentioned, mixing steel and magic was not easy.

'What a lovely smug smile.' Elias thought.

Elias had a big nose, he could smell the Rotheshit emanating from this sun-elf's arrogance gland. He really would need to dissect a sun elf at some point and see if they really had one of those. In any case, he would be useful, might even get a few spells off before he gets eaten by some sort of horrible nightmare creature with spiked tentacles. What the creature would do with those tentacles was a thought that Elias did not want to consider, but the image he found himself perversely drawn to, like a by-stander gawking at a collision between two sailing ships

"Indeed, but let us not get in a hurry... we still need a certain amount of assistance...."

Kergan shrugged. "Three and two, really; most of my spells are for up close and personal work. However," he said while tapping the chain shirt beneath his traveler's overshirt, "wearing armor doesn't bother my casting much."

"Indeed, a Cleric of Corellian Larethian might be nice but we will take what we can get, no?" Coda looked at the gnome wondering for half a second what the gnome was thinking and then decided that it was probably a good thing that he didn't know. A quick smirk at the gnome and a slow look up and down the warriors lead him to realize that they were also short a scoundrel. "It might also be pertenant to find us a... scoundrel?"

This caused Kergan to smirk. "I don't believe we've met," he said, eying the sun elf critically. "I am Kergan Mehrimat, a traveling Duskblade from the Semberholme Dalelands region."

The unspoken implication was that the elves from around the Semberholme region were all Moon Elves.

"Ah yes, the Semerholme Dalelands. A Moon Elf band then. How quaint! Aren't you precious? A Moon Elf following in the great mystical traditions of the Sun Elves! How absolutely adoreable! And so next season! Do tell me, have you seen what a truely skilled Duskblade can do? Such a fine Elven art that spinning of spells and sword together is. I am so happy that you lesser Elves are finally taking to it. And like fish to water!" Coda smiled whole heartedly. Like a typical Sun Elf, he sees himself as Corellian's gift to Elven kind. And he is not abashed to show it.

Kergan's smirk grew a bit more wide. "Oh, so according to your history, you tried to make up for your various debacles throughout history by making the Duskblade tradition, which you then shared to all elven- and humankind just to be magnanimous, right? Is that really what you tell yourselves?"

(EDIT: Removed the Drow reference.)

"Well they have to make up for those little mistakes somehow, but they cant admit, what with their pretention gland, to ever actually being wrong. So they rewrite history and take credit for something that they didnt do in order to try and remove the under-dark-sized blemish on their history"

Elias giggled like a schoolgirl, and when he calmed down, and it took him a second.

"Wow... I am so glad we got rid of that pretentious sop. He would have gotten as killed, not to say we are not going to die anyway mind..."

Rauri had kicked back and was enjoying her ale, listening to the Elf, Gnome, and, now that she got a good look at Kergan, the elven-blood argue over elven history.

When the Sun Elf got up and stalked away, she just did manage to hide her snicker in her ale... but Elias giggling like a child rather ruined it. "I'd heard the Gold Elves had a stick up 'em... bu' I never thought it reached their brains...."
