As part of the River Confederation, Lookshy is one of the biggest threats. Perfect place for a courtesan to start trying to make a name for herself (and start quietly setting up a little spy network to keep her informed)

Upon rereading your background, LadyT, I that you pecked Lookshy as an enemy of the Scavenger Lands; it couldn't IMHO be farther from the truth, since they've been a stabilizing influence and a factor of independence for the River Confederacy against Realm annexation. Just wanted to make it clear before I make you start near Lookshy.
OTOH, they're likely to be more weary of a Lunar than a Solar, given the former's recent history of breeding beastmen armies that ravaged part of the Scavenger Lands in centuries past. Don't be surprised if they call you a Solar, it would be a shame to correct the misunderstanding...
Right now, I'm thinking of making you a courtesan of the entourage of a Guild merchant prince that is coming to negociate the sale of a boat to Lookshy.
SirNitram, which Major Gens would your family be closest to? A militaristic one would have ties to Gens Karal, I guess. I will probably have you see briefly LadyT's Lunar when in Lookshy, which will trigger First Age memories and your curiosity about her. How you two play that out is up to you.
rhoenix, you will have worked as a special agent for the same Gens as Nitram, and have already done one or two difficult assignments for them (difficult for mortals, that is). If you two agree, you're likely to be the only two exalts who know each other, and while Nitram did not explicitely tell your nature to the Command Staff, he told them you are a valuable mortal asset that he likes to work with.
Marcao, your character will have started to make a name for himself by single-handedly defeating a boat of river pirates that had boarded the transport that had carried you from the West to near Lookshy (must have been really stupid pirates to come so close to a naval power, but then, the rivers are fucking huge (little seas in themselves), perhaps they hoped to remain under the radar with just one or two raids...). You have been contacted by the same Gens as above, and interviewed to determine that you are fit to command a small ship that will escort Lookshyan personnel in a covert operation (which one you do not know). You're here to maintain plausible denialability since you are no Lookshyan sailor yourself, but you are quite talented and could gain future job opportunities if you do well on this assignment. Ideal to start your corsair fleet, don't you think? Besides, the Dragon-Blooded here don't rule everything, so despite their traditions they're much farther fromt the hated Shogunate than the decadent Realm in your eyes... Aren't they?

Heheh... Nomad, any 'stablizing influence', especially one as large and as militarized as Lookshy, is going to make their neighbors nervous. From what Nitram has told me about the area, the river cities are forced to depend on Lookshy for their military forces.
That isn't healthy for the river. What if Lookshy were to fall, like Thorne? The River Confederation would be helpless. Teamhair cannot allow that, it would mean the destruction of the Confederation. Thus... the River Confederation needs the knowledge of Lookshy, to form it's own militia and protect itself from all threats.
This is my Thousand Streams River. Lookshy is an outdated relic of the past, struggling to hold on to ancient dreams. The River Confederation is young, bold, and given the right nuturing and care they will stand strong and tall and become better than what had came before. But they will not be able to do so, as long as Lookshy has her military might and control.
That is why Lookshy is on my threat list.

Well, your reasoning has its own logic. The trouble is, you'll have to steal the factory-cathedrals that manufacture all the goodies, and Lookshy has its own Celestial allies, its own seal of fate (you could try to go against the will of the Maiden of Battles, of course, but I'd wager it would take you a lot of allies and time).LadyTevar wrote: That is why Lookshy is on my threat list.
Still, your project is suitably epic. I'm eager to see the confrontation with SirNitram

A more detailed answer:
Besides, while mortals can be trained to take part in magitech production, they are by no means sufficient to build new stuff, the Exalts are also a key element.
The thing is, though, that Lookshy is still reasonably morally healthy, much more so than the Realm.
But please go ahead. Kicking a Celestial Incarna's pet sand castle and warring against your soulbound mate's very motivation is what Exalted is about
Well, the mass destruction weapons, army of Dragon-Blooded and factory-cathedrals sure help. Unfortunately, spreading those elements to the entire Scavenger Lands will not be easy, even for a Celestial Exalt.

The knowledge won't be enough. The factory cathedrals are a key element in Lookshy's magitech production, and even the Dragon-Blooded elite-trained Wai-Tan Junai (sorcerer-engineer) can only maintain them, not build new ones, and I doubt they'll give them away. That isn't healthy for the river. Lookshy will have her military might for as long as Mars herself wills it. Bronze Faction Sidereals can't even touch Lookshy astrologically. Lookshy still has a powerful, Creation-wide destiny to fulfill. No one knows which, though. This is my Thousand Streams River. See, this is why it's FUN to go into a game where you don't know the history in full and go off bits and pieces kicked up in passing. You wind up making the DM laugh maniacally and wishing you luck surviving.
Nitram's willing to run with it and see how it plays out between them.

I am willing to run with the information provided so far by the GM. I figure my character will give Lookshy a shot and try to interact with it in person before passing judgment on that little den of vipers. Lookshy is a deterrent to the realm, so in that sense he figures at the very least he can use it. I don't foresee my character getting too entangled with the Lookshy angle but we will see. The fact that Lookshy has the de facto best air navy in the world will bring back a lot of memories. If nothing else, it should be fun to watch.
A fyi, I own the scavenger land supplement so I know the scoop on Lookshy and all that it entails.

Alright. I think Fickety is also interested - she was making a character the last I spoke with her. I'll talk to her again before making sure she talks with you about the greater particulars. The Nomad wrote:The Grim Squeaker has PM me that he's interested in the game. I'll help him make his character, then we'll start.

Yeah - that was half the reason I was kinda happy when she first looked at these forum and went "oooooh!" when I explained what it is we do here.LadyTevar wrote:Another girl would be nice, I get tired of being the only chick in the game.
However, I haven't talked to her much lately. I'll try messaging her tonight while I'm at school.

That works. As I said above, I'll try bugging Fickety tonight, but I'm anxious to start. The Nomad wrote:If the players whose characters are ready will it, we can start right now and integrate the other characters during play. I have made you wait long enough

You are correct. I blame tiny communists that live in the internet's series of tubes, blocking the poker chips.
Half-Damned, All Hero.

Me: Evil is so inappropriate. I'm ruthless.
Tev: You're turning me on.

Well, it's started. I apologize if it seems so contrived, but with only two of the characters knowing each other, that's the best I could muster after 1 hour of cloudy brainstorming at 1 am. I rolled your perception to see if any of you saw each other, and only LadyT's character had any success. Well, sometimes it's fun to let the dice decide, it cuts down hesitation

A few questions specifically concerning my character:
- What meeting is he due for in 4 hours?
- About how much money would my character have to throw around, being a regular scout/"messenger?"

Ok... pardon me... I thought from the intro that Kolth and Orduin would be talking.
Thus... Teamhair spoke to KOLTH.
If this isn't so, please let me know so I can change my post. Ok?

@LadyTevar: Well, I had assumed that they would at least greet each other. Looks like rhoenix's character is already leaving the both of you alone
Speaking of a name, you should devise a Lunar name, should we ever deal with the Silver Pact. Something like "Seven Devils Clever", "Strength of Many" or "Ten Stripes".
@rhoenix: If you want the hard number, Resources 2 is less than 100 silver dinars a year, or, given 15 lunar months of 28 days plus Calibration, an equivalent of 0.235 silver dinar/day . This is sufficent to buy any reasonable number of common items or cheap baubles. Exalted is not a game of accurate monetary accounting.
(note: this is AFAIK different from the monetary conversions given in Manacle and Coin)
About the meeting: wait and see

I've been thinking of one. I've got it narrowed down to two possibles:
"Moonlight Dances on Water"
or
"River Sings (in/to) the Night"
