#1 frigid watched Prince of Persia

Post by frigidmagi »

I saw the midnight release of Prince of Persia. Now I'll be blunt here, I never finished the video game (I mostly just watched my brother kick the shit out of those games through sheer determination) so faithfulness to the video game isn't a yard stick I'll be using. Although the movie does do a fairly good job.

The writing was decent, with some enjoyable sub characters (knife thrower worked very well for me, as did the tea party ostrich racer). The acting was well done and the scenes were downright beautiful. For that matter so was Gemma Arterton who played the princess.

Good, but not great. Maybe it was because I knew the plot, maybe it was because I didn't feel the tension. For whatever reason, this movie while well done didn't make the jump to greatness.

I'm giving Prince of Persia a B. It's a solid, well done movie and frankly given the standard mess that a video game movie is, I am thankful for it.
