#1 Which Star Wars film has the best ending sequence?
After seeing Episode III again, I came to realize that I like the final sequence of it even better than the Trilogy.
The excellent fight with Kenobi vs Vader was priceless. Then the birth of Vader as we know him. Yoda vs Palpatine. The Death Star. Outstanding ending.
The weakest ending IMO was actually The Empire Strikes Back. Luke vs Vader was good, but then ending on the Rebel medical ship seemed weak. Of course, it wasn't really an ending, the writers knew Return of the Jedi would fnish it off.
Speaking of Jedi, very good ending in the original, but I felt it was weakend by the Special Edition and DVDs showing the celebrations. The ending of Jedi is a tragic ending in my mind. The death of Vader, seeing the weak, old man under the mask is a touching moment. And even more so after seeing Sith. Anakin was devloped much more in the preuils, and that made Vader get closer to me too, making Jedi even more profound.
I also really liked the Imperial March playing at the end of Attack of the Clones. But the rest of that ending was kinda meh.
A New Hope's ending is pretty well the classic 'and they lived happily ever after' ending. I liked it none the less. The attack on the Death Star was fun and exciting; a great sequence. Then the excellent work of John Williams in writing the music for the throne room really made me leave that movie feeling good. But feeling good isn't as impacting as the tragic events of Ep III and VI.
So, there are my thoughts on the movies. What ending sequence did you like best?

I have not watched them all in order yet, but off hand I think ROTJ has the best, or at least the most memorable for me, ending. The funeral of Vader is a moment of closure I don't see quite paralleled in the others (to some extent this is a 'duh' moment, as it ends the whole thing and the others don't, but I want closure and it provides).

ANH. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling after watching it. And considering I hated the prequels as actual story-line movies...
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river.
The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god.

Hard to choose. ANH or RotJ, though I hated the Yubb Yubb song.

The Special Edition ending NEVER HAPPENED. Do you hear me? NEVER happened.Petrosjko wrote:Hard to choose. ANH or RotJ, though I hated the Yubb Yubb song.

Chop the celebration scenes, keep the music, and I'd be happy with the SE ending soundtrack. The Cleric wrote:The Special Edition ending NEVER HAPPENED. Do you hear me? NEVER happened.Petrosjko wrote:Hard to choose. ANH or RotJ, though I hated the Yubb Yubb song.
But then, I never liked the friggin' Ewoks. That was where Lucas really sold out for toy marketing, and the Ewoks weren't even popular because they missed one of the biggest reasons why Yoda was so big- those big soulful eyes of his.

AOTC. Loading the Acclamators with the forshadowing of the coming empire.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

I didn't even like the music. I would have prefered it to end with the ending theme. And I did LOVE the Imperial March ending to AOtC, from a "fun" point of view.Petrosjko wrote:But then, I never liked the friggin' Ewoks.
