Well, Kolth's stubborn. Consider the 3 willpower and 1 limit spent.

He can hold that charm if he insists.

Works for me - Kolth will be busy constructively channeling the Deathknight's attention.

I do hope he has the Abyssal 'Render craft immune' charm and thinks to use it.

The sucking void of Essence will screw him over good.

It's not very costly. Besides,
The sucking void of Essence will screw him over good.
That just means he'll have to hurt you badly to get his Essence back.

rhoenix: 1) I'll make the dice rolls when needed. You just post what you attempt, I'll give you the results. Please edit your post accordingly.

2) you just lost 5 lethal health levels, and have blood pouring out of your mouth. (Dread Lord's Demeanor augmented with Heart-Stopping Mien; nasty combo.).

Note that you take penalties onboard the ship, on which Unhallowed Ghost Ship has been used.

He is free to spend 40 motes when I just spent 5. I am happy to continue this trade.

He'll make another offer soon (when I'm rested)

Oh btw rhoenix I just checked, it's only 5 dice, not 5 levels. I'll roll it later.

Nomad, do you remember how you and I went the rounds deciding what Teamhair's motivation was? Do you also remember what she swore to Uld Opht?

There's a reason why I ask, of course. Teamhair wants to see the River Confederation take the place of Lookshy, or at least become it's equal. Losing villagers to this soul-sucking bastard is not part of her Thousand River Streams plan.

This deathknight is in the way of her plan.

Do you also remember what she swore to Uld Opht?
This is the bastard that killed a dryad. Teamhair's made a promise on what she'd do to the bastard. She's going to keep it.

Now... Teamhair's got Valor 3 and Conviction 3. She's also got the nasty little Curse of the Raging Bull, but that's beside the point right now. Right now, she's going to get rid of these gnats blocking her way, and then it won't matter WHAT that DeathKnight has up to stop her, she is going to power through it.

Updates coming this weekend. I feel a little lethargic nowadays, and wouldn't want to mess up the climactic combat sequence.

Marcao: counting the lack of familiarity and external conditions, I've reduced the bow's accuracy bonus to 0 (which is generous IMHO since I chose to ignore external penalties). You still manage to do 2 levels of damage to the hull - I count it as a wood wall (it's a sturdy ship), so it'll take 6 more damage levels before it is pierced enough to start seriously sinking the ship.
EDIT: something that Orduin is sure to have mentioned to Yevala: the implosion bow has a "wide beam"/AOE setting which could blow bigger holes...

rhoenix: unfortunately you can't reach him at this action. Nice stunt though.

SirNitram: technically, besides the mast, there are no structural weaknesses on the deck. And you've just been hit by Ebon Lightning Prana, which makes the damage piercing (halve armored soak) and the attack unexpected (meaning your DVs are at 0). You've taken 7 lhls, which means that your are now at Incapacitated (Ox-Body Technique sure helps). You have also given him 5 motes. Given that ELP is a magical "act first" Charm, you could not have completed your action, even if you had scored many successes on the Join Battle roll*.

LadyTevar: I hope you know how to take blood out of your clothes, because some of those nemissaries had rather 'fresh' bodies  You also note that they have started to make a coordinated attack at you (there are currently 3 nemissaries standing, with 2 more rising).
And now's the time to carefully use your Solar Bond points :)

*I'm not bothering with ticks. Kolth will be the fastest if he uses his short dailklaves and will have the edge in action, barring that you all have the same speed.

Too late to reflexively shove my Twilight anima in his face and reduce the damage to 4 LHLs? Not Charm use, and it's always nice to have that up and running.

(Also, I know how deadly combat in Exalted are. I'm toast if I'm incap already.)

Ah, Ebon Lighting Prana. I figured that we were going to run into THAT charm sooner or later. And this is why I am going the dodge route and picking up a particular charm asap. Ebon Lightning Prana makes blade of the battle maiden look like a twig. *le shrug*

Remember how I was talking about awesome Dodge charms are, everyone?

In the meantime, Kolth's next task is to knock that necrophiliac off the ship, and preferably onto land, but into water works fine too.

Heavenly Guardian Defense. Parry the unparryable. And that's what I'm doing the whole next round. Twilight aura, Hardness, soak, AND perfect D. I might just survive.

I am throwing in my Solar Bond dice (2 dots) to hit the DeathKnight multiple times. I reserve my Third Dexterity Excellency in case I need to add to my Dodge or Parry (+2 added to one of those for an instant) for when the Abyssal counterattacks.

HGD has a huge weakness: you can only parry attacks of which you are aware. Which is why ELP is such a hideous Charm because it's an automatic surprise (to balance things a bit, I recently have decided to allow Surprise Anticipation Method (and other such Charms) to detect the attack even though it normally shouldn't).
I'm ok with the Twilight aura though, I'll edit my post accordingly. The damage is reduced to 4 health levels.

Actually, EBT can be made Expected by SAT or Reflexive Sidestep Technique; it's just you generally desperately need those combo'd with something to shore up your defense at the same time. But yes. It's no one of those things: It's the many coming together. Hopefully, that's the only Ebon Lightning out of him today.

Surprise Anticipation Method works only for attacks which the character has a chance to detect (ie can attempt an Awareness roll), which is not the case here. I might make up a custom Melee Charm that mirrors Reflex Sidestep Technique, though.

BTW, it will take you a miscellaneous action to get up (you can flurry it with your attacks).

I've always seen the two effects(Always detect, always unexpected) get chucked under the 'Conflicting Perfects' rule. But okay, as long as there's a way to get a defense up against the OMFGPWN of auto-unexpected.

rhoenix: you're lucky - even with the -1 success penalty for being onboard his ship and internal penalty for running, you got the element of surprise. And besides, I think you still have your Night anima. I counted the sprint and jump as a single action. You dealt 3 lhls, regain 2 motes for the stunt.

LadyT, note that you can activate the Third Excellency several times in a action (once for each attack you receive or dish out, or even other actions since it's a very broad type of Excellency) meaning that you can both defend with a +2 to DV and reroll attacks. Tell me if you want to spend the Essence, and I will edit the posts.
No successes on the damage roll, you still regain 2 motes for the stunt. You used 12 motes (one for the deathknight, one for a nemissary, one for the balance roll which was a botch at first and a came up short of 1 success the second time). You will take a miscellaneous action to get up (you can still attack, only it will be in a flurry, getting up will be your first action).

SirNitram: with the wound penalty and mobility penalty, you were left with 1 dice, which turned out to be a 1... Time for bath!

Marcao: 12L in a 3 yards radius is violent, especially when chanelling Valor :p. The capsizing caused anyone on the ship to roll a difficulty 4 Dex+Athletics check (basically, I took the Earth Dragon Graced Weapon Charm as a reference for that).
